TomTom GPS after 1 year of utilizing this device!
1) The battery is holding less charge than last year, but it still lasts 6-8 hrs without needing a charge. Not a problem for me, simply because I exploit the automobile adapter most of time.
two) I drove to Canada, and the maps had been correct! In fact, I liked that TomTom still informed me the speed limits in the streets. (Sign said 100kph speed restrict, TomTom confirmed sixty mph restrict.) I found this helpful so I did not have to squint at the tiny “kph” on my car’s speedometer. I have produced this journey prior to within the past (without my TomTom), and I chose to “Avoid Tolls” on this journey. TomTom found a really good route that I had not recognized about. It utilized IQ Routes to get me about the rush-hour visitors too! I utilized the “Itinerary” feature for the very first time, and found it worked fairly well. I programmed 6-7 locations the night prior to my journey. The next day, I merely opened the Itinerary and it asked me if I wanted to journey to the 1st one. I also ended up re-ordering a location to later on within the journey, and found an option to re-order. Extremely helpful!
3) I updated my map just once (correct prior to my journey to Canada). I installed this on a new computer. I used to be worried that TomTom wouldn’t ‘know’ that I used to be eligible for free maps on my new computer. But, I had no problem whatsoever! For those of you who don’t know, all of your map updates, downloadable color schemes, icons (and so on) are carried out via the TomTom House software. You create an account with TomTom, and the TomTom House software uses that account to ‘know’ you are eligible for Lifetime Map updates.
four) I did discover 1 piece that does not function for me. I can’t use the “Safety Cameras” add-in from TomTom House. I have not researched it though. I received an error communication when trying to include it. No big offer for me, because I only planned to include it for curiosity. A quick Google search did not reveal it as a widespread problem. I will update this review if I find a cause/solution.
five) Sure, the GPS still “pops off” the mount too effortlessly. It bugs me every so often, but still not sufficient to buy a different mount/base.
six) Am I within the marketplace for a new GPS? Nope! Still extremely pleased with this one. (I received ill of every other GPS within six months of utilizing it. But, understanding I still adore this TomTom after 1 year says a lot!)
Good occupation TomTom, you exceeded my higher expectations. Thank you!
